Both members of Glamarella were forced to defend their titles on Monday night, with Santino Marella losing the Intercontinental Title to William Regal, and Beth Phoenix defending her Women’s Championship against Mickie James. The Glamazon was able to retain some of Glamarella’s glory, by defeating James and retaining her gold.

\Raw’s 800th episode celebration was also the setting for the biggest Divas competition in WWE history, a 16-Diva Tag Team Match. After the Divas made their entrance, the referee noticed that the team of Divas Champion Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Eve, Brie Bella & Tiffany was short by one competitor. Luckily, WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young made her way to the ring, rounding out the team. Showing a complete lack of respect for the ring legend, Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix rolled up an unsuspecting Young, pinning her for the win.

Fresh off her win as Lara Croft in the Cyber Sunday Diva Halloween Costume Contest, Mickie James came to the ring, accompanied by Kelly Kelly & Candice Michelle for their match against the team of Layla, Katie Lea Burchill & Jillian. James continued her streak as her team dominated their opponents.

Mickie appeared on Raw for a whole 5 seconds!!! She was hanging out backstage with Jamie Noble and Candice Michelle texting on her phone while Chris Jericho walked past. Let’s hope Mickie and Jamie’s budding new relationship develops a bit more next week and our girl gets pushed back into the spotlight.

Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella & Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix def. Jamie Noble & Mickie James when Santino rolled up Noble after a distraction from The Glamazon; Noble attacked William Regal at ringside.
Prior to the match, 2008 King of the Ring William Regal came to the announce table with Layla to observe the Mixed Tag Team Match. Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella and his partner in “Glamarella” emerged next, and the Italian Superstar continued to use the Honk-A-Meter to brag about his Intercontinental Title streak – currently at all of seven weeks. In spite of Mickie and Jamie Noble’s valiant efforts, Glamarella dominated the match, but Noble managed to take out his frustrations afterward by attacking Regal, who had recently stolen away the lovely Layla, in spite of Noble’s attempts to woo her.

Earlier in the night, Jamie Noble searched for a tag team partner for his match against the Burchill siblings, but was turned down by Jillian, who went so far as to mock the Superstar with her rendition of Beck’s “Loser.” But her performance was interrupted by the entrance of Dolph Ziggler, who continued his habit of introducing himself to various Raw Superstars. Just prior to the match, things got even worse for Noble as the 2008 King of the Ring – and Noble’s rival for Layla’s affections – William Regal took a seat on the entranceway, with the lovely Diva at his side. Before the bell rang however, former Women’s Champion Mickie James rushed to the ring, and with her help, Noble was able make Paul Burchill tap out.

In a Six-Diva Tag Match, Candice Michelle made her return to Raw, competing alongside Mickie James & Kelly Kelly. They defeated the team of WWE Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix, Jillian & Katie Lea Burchill when Candice pinned The Glamazon.

Though they have both recently suffered defeat at the hands of Beth Phoenix, the team of former Women’s Champion Mickie James & Kelly Kelly rallied and defeated their opponents, Katie Lea Burchill & Jillian, putting an end to Jillian’s tone-deaf singing.

Santino took the mic and said they need to send a message to Kofi and Mickie for the Summerslam winner-take-all match. Santino said he wanted her to do that thing where she quashes her, but Mickie and Kofi ran to the ring to make the save. Santino casually slipped out of the ring with Beth and said they’ll settle this at Summerslam. Santino then suggested him in a match here right now. Kofi accepted the challenge, then Santino said he meant Mickie. See, he needs practice for Summerslam on when and where he can put his hands. Mickie wasn’t amused and Kofi tried to defend her, but Santino played the “hometown” card to goat Mickie into accepting the challenge against Kofi’s judgment.

2 — Women’s champion MICKIE JAMES (w/IC champion Kofi Kingston) vs. SANTINO MARELLA (w/Beth Phoenix)

This was so great to start off with Mickie matching Santino move-for-move in a game of can-you-top-this? Santino then smashed Mickie hard to the mat and went for the big knee drop, but Mickie moved in time. Santino feigned a knee injury, but Mickie showed no sympathy and went on the attack. Kofi then accidentally ran interference, allowing Beth to sneak into the ring and send Mickie hard into the ringpost. Santino took advantage with a roll-up for like a four count to secure the pin. Afterward, Santino celebrated ringside in classic Santino-wins-the-Super-Bowl fashion while taunting Mickie’s parents in the process. Meanwhile, Mickie and Kofi tried to re-collect themselves in the ring.

WINNER: Santino in 3:00

In the first of the night’s three title matches, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Paul Burchill to retain gold. After the match, when Kingston chased Paul away from the ring, the brutal Englishman’s sister Katie Lea was left in the ring by herself. She was soon joined, however, by WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James, beginning the night’s second title match. Mickie defeated Katie Lea to retain her championship gold, but before she could leave the arena, the Women’s Champion was attacked by Beth Phoenix, accompanied by what appears to be The Glamazon’s new beau, Santino Marella.

After the match, both The Glamazon and the Italian Superstar confronted Mike Adamle about their desires for championship matches at SummerSlam. Hoping to satisfy both competitors, Adamle created another match for the Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer: A Winner Takes All Match between Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston & WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James and Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix, with both titles going to the winning team.
